Hasami Spring Pottery FestivalFans and pottery-buyers fill the streets of the town during this festival, which features booths from over 100 porcelain producer and dealers. The obvious appeal of the event is the availability of choice items at a 30-40% price reduction, although another draw is the chance to discuss the art of pottery with fellow enthusiasts while searching for that special piece. The large weather-proof tented area allows shoppers to browse very comfortably. The festivities continue with potters-wheel and pottery-painting classes, a Hasami scenery photo contest, and a prize draw. Parking is available for over 1,200 cars for 500 yen per vehicle; the shuttle bus service from the parking lot is free of charge.
Mikawachi-Yaki Hamazen FestivalVisit the kilns of Mikawachi and discover the cozy scenery of the town. This event features painting and potter's wheel trial courses, and many others relating to porcelain. The highlight of the festival may be the auction, held three times a day. It gives enthusiasts a chance to grab a prized, rare item at a discounted price. During June, Obama’s evenings will be filled with illuminations which perfect the occasion to view the beauty of these trees while they’re in full bloom. The peak of this festival will come on June 15th, where a fashion show with clothes dyed with jacaranda blossoms and a farmer’s market will be held.

Shimbara Water Festival Shimabara Water festival will be held on the first weekend of August in Shimabara City, where the richabundant natural spring water has flowed throughfilled in the streets of former samurai residences in the old cast castle town since years gone by.with former samurai houses.
This festival is held to show the appreciation for the natural spring water and to make cultivate athe city rich in water and greenery.
There will be bamboo lanterns and art objects made of from gigantic traditional Japanese classic umbrellas, and lights all along the canal waterways through the castle town and former samurai residences.

Stage events include performances from kindergarten pupils, a lottery offering attractive prizes and a mascot show which all add to the festive atmosphere. The local council also organizes a tug of war competition.
Summer Festival in ArieTraditionally every year on the 29th and 30th of July a summer festival takes place at Arie Onsen Shrine. The main event happens on the 29th, where participants pray for good health and the stalls in the shrine’s compound sell their goods. On the stage, local artists perform live and many participants proudly show their vocal talent at the karaoke competition. A lottery and other fun activities contribute to create an even more festive atmosphere. This summer festival has been very popular amongst its town people since old times.
Breweries Tour Festival in ArieThe town of Arie in Minami-Shimabara has flourished since the old times whilst being known as the “place of the village headman”. Arie’s sake & miso breweries, somen noodle factories and brick factories are part of the town’s industrial heritage. Many shrines, temples and Christian tombstones found in this area prove its historical heritage. All in all, this town preserves an old and nostalgic atmosphere where you can experience a time slip.
The aim of the “Breweries Tour Festival in Arie” is to hand down this heritage to future generations whilst revitalizing the local economy. This event features fresh made sake tasting, a display of the girl’s festival doll decorations in spring and a classical concert in autumn, a tour of the breweries and their gardens, treasure hunting, a lottery and more.
Industrial Festival in FukaeThis festival features a rokubei (local specialty of noodles made with sweet potatoes) eating competition, street performances, and other fun activities especially for families.
Food stalls sell local specialties and produce at discounted prices. There is also a free tasting corner for kuruma ebi (Japanese tiger prawn), Nagasaki Beef and rokube. On stage, there are scheduled performances throughout the day. Don't forget to pick up bingo sheets for the bingo competition and stand a chance to win great prizes!
